RADON MEASUREMENT
As a Certified Radon Measurement Technician, I will properly test your home for the presense of this dangerous gas and accurately report my findings quickly (48 hours required) with a calibrated Continuous Radon Monitor.
Radon is a naturally occuring, odorless gas that forms in the rocks and soil beneath us. The gas makes its way up into homes through even the smallest cracks and pores in a foundation, and can be increased by a phenomenon known as the "stack effect" in which soil gases are sucked into the home due to pressure differences. Most of Montana is EPA Zone 1 meaning radon concentrations are expected to test above the Action Limit of 4.0 pCi/L.
Radon is a known carcinogen and has been recognized as the number one cause of lung cancer-related deaths in non-smokers. This dangerous element can be found everywhere and accounts for an estimated 21,000 cancer deaths each year in the U.S. alone.
No level of radon is considered safe, and the EPA says around 50% of homes in Montana have radon levels above the EPA Action Limit! Find out more here.
The EPA recommends every home be tested for this dangerous gas. A test will allow you to confirm that radon is below the Action Level or alert you that excess radon is present and the home should have a mitigation system installed.
